Allstar Cargo & RV is a family-run trailer dealer in Douglas, Georgia, and we have been helping racers, contractors, mobile groomers, food vendors, and weekend haulers spec out enclosed trailers for years. Just about every trailer that rolls off our lot can be built to order — sizes from 5-wide compact cargo trailers up to 8.5×32 race haulers, with the axles, electrical packages, doors, flooring, lighting, and exterior upgrades that match how the trailer will actually be used.

This page is the master guide to the upgrades and packages we offer. Whether you are stepping up from a leaf-spring single-axle into a torsion-axle race trailer with an observation deck, or you need a 30-amp electrical package and a generator box on the tongue, you will find the option here, along with a plain-English explanation of why it matters and who it is for. Every trailer we build can be paired with our financing or rent-to-own programs and shipped nationwide.

Axle Upgrades

The axle is the foundation of any enclosed trailer. It dictates how much you can legally haul, how the trailer rides at highway speed, how it handles uneven driveways, and how long the suspension lasts. We build trailers on a full range of axle ratings and styles, and the right pick depends entirely on cargo weight, towing distance, and what you are pulling with.

  • 3,500 lb axles — standard on smaller cargo trailers (5-wide and 6-wide single-axle). Plenty of capacity for tools, lawn equipment, and light loads.
  • 5,200 lb axles — the common spec on most 7-wide and 8.5-wide tandem-axle trailers. The right call for most car haulers, motorcycle trailers, and mid-size race trailers.
  • 7,000 lb axles — heavy-duty rating for loaded race trailers, side-by-sides, full race teams, and concession trailers carrying heavy water and equipment.
  • Torsion axles — independent rubber suspension. Smoother ride, less vibration, no leaf springs to wear out. The preferred axle on premium race trailers, motorcycle haulers carrying expensive bikes, and any trailer crossing the country regularly.
  • Leaf-spring axles — the traditional setup. Reliable, easy to service, and a great match for utility cargo work where ride quality matters less than rebuildability.
  • Spread-axle setups — axles spaced farther apart for better stability at highway speed and a more refined ride. Look the part on a race trailer and tow it.
  • Triple-axle configurations — for the longest, heaviest builds — typically 8.5×32 race trailers with full interiors and generator setups.
  • Electric brakes — standard, and what most trucks are wired for.
  • Hydraulic brakes — stronger stopping power for heavy and frequent use.

Torsion axles in particular get asked about a lot. They give a smoother towing experience with less road vibration than leaf springs, which is why they are popular with race trailer owners hauling expensive cars long distances and with motorcycle trailer owners who don’t want their bikes shaken loose at 70 mph. The trade-off is rebuildability — leaf springs are simpler to service in the field. Both have their place, and we will help you pick.

Electrical Packages

Once you start running a trailer like a workspace — a race trailer with cabinets and lights, a concession trailer with a hood, a pet grooming trailer with a water heater — the electrical package becomes one of the most important upgrades on the build. We offer everything from a basic 110V plug-in package up to fully wired 50-amp twistlock setups with marine batteries and inverters.

  • 110V electrical packages — basic shore-power setup with a few interior outlets and a converter. Good for trailers with a few accessories.
  • 30-amp packages — the standard step-up for race trailers and concession trailers running an A/C and lighting.
  • 50-amp twistlock packages — the upper-tier electrical setup. Required if you are running a 15K A/C, mini-split, microwave, fridge, and lighting at the same time at the track.
  • LED interior lighting — flat-panel ceiling lights, recessed pucks, and LED strip lights. Brighter, longer-lasting, and a fraction of the power draw of incandescent.
  • Porch and loading lights — exterior 12V LEDs above the side door and ramp door for loading at night.
  • Converter packages — power converter to charge a marine battery off shore power and run 12V circuits.
  • Generator prep — pre-wired transfer switch and generator box on the tongue or in a recessed compartment.
  • Shore power hookups — exterior twistlock receptacle and weatherproof inlet so you can hook in at any track or campsite.

If you are even thinking about adding cabinets, a TV, or A/C down the road, get the bigger electrical package now. Pre-wiring a 50-amp setup during the build is far cheaper than re-doing the electrical after the trailer is finished.

Race Trailer Options

Race trailers are one of the things Allstar is best known for. Whether you are running drag, dirt, motocross, sprint cars, side-by-sides, ATVs, or a UTV team, the right race trailer is half tool box and half hospitality unit — it has to carry the car, hold the tires and tools, run the A/C between rounds, and look right in the pits. These are the upgrades we build into our race haulers.

  • Observation decks and walk-on roofs — reinforced roof with railing and ladder access for spotting and watching from the pits.
  • Generator compartments — recessed or tongue-mounted, vented, and pre-wired to the trailer.
  • Race-grade cabinets — base cabinets, overhead cabinets, and tool boxes with mousehole and winch plate.
  • ATP and RTP flooring — aluminum tread plate and rubber tread plate for serious abuse.
  • E-track — single or dual rows on the floor and walls, plus optional aluminum holdbacks for chains and straps.
  • Ladder racks and tire racks — exterior ladder mounts and interior tire storage.
  • Extra interior height — 7′ 6″ or taller to clear taller cars, lifted side-by-sides, and stacked cargo.
  • Escape doors — 60×78 double side doors so you can get to the driver-side door of a parked race car.
  • Blackout packages — blackout exterior trim, wheels, and accents for a custom-shop look.
  • Aluminum wheels — SpiderMag and similar premium wheels.
  • Finished interiors — white metal walls and ceiling, optional half-carpet wall, Thermacool ceiling insulation.

If you are shopping by use case rather than feature, see our three named race trailer packages — Qualifier, Velocity, and Platinum — to pick your tier. Motorcycle Trailer Options

Motorcycle owners want a trailer that loads easily, secures the bikes without scratching anything, and looks the part rolling into a rally. We build motorcycle haulers in single-bike, two-bike, and three-bike configurations, with options that match Harley, sportbike, and adventure-bike crowds.

  • Harley packages — interior fitments and tie-down layouts sized for full-dress baggers.
  • Blackout packages — blackout exterior, wheels, and trim for that custom show look.
  • Escape doors — getting around a packed-in bike without having to back it out.
  • ATP flooring — aluminum tread plate so kickstands don’t dent vinyl or wood.
  • Aluminum wheels — premium aluminum wheel upgrades.
  • Interior cabinets — for helmets, jackets, fluids, and chase tools.
  • Awnings — manual or electric, for shade on the road.
  • E-track and chock systems — proper tie-downs that hold the bike at highway speeds.

Pet Grooming Packages

Mobile pet grooming is one of our specialties — Allstar’s Orion Package is built specifically for groomers who want a turn-key trailer ready to wash, dry, and groom on day one. The build includes everything you need to plug in or run off a generator and start serving customers.

  • Stainless wash tubs and grooming tables
  • Freshwater holding tanks
  • Wastewater holding tanks
  • On-demand hot water heaters
  • Climate control A/C package
  • Generator prep and onboard generator options
  • Insulated walls and ceiling

  • 30-amp or 50-amp electrical package

If you are starting a mobile dog grooming business, this is the easiest way into the trailer side of the equation — we will spec the package, build the trailer, and ship it to you ready to work.

Concession Trailer Packages

Concession trailers are equal parts kitchen and rolling business. We build food trailers, BBQ trailers, and event vendor trailers with the water, electrical, and ventilation packages they need to pass inspection and operate at any festival, fair, or street corner.

  • Hand-wash and three-compartment sinks
  • Hood and ventilation systems
  • Freshwater and wastewater plumbing packages
  • Concession serving windows with screens and lift-up covers
  • Generator boxes and 50-amp electrical
  • Refrigeration prep (pre-wired circuits and shelving)

Exterior Upgrades

The exterior is the first thing anyone sees and the first thing road debris hits. Our exterior upgrade options are about looking right and lasting longer.

  • .080 Polycore exterior — thicker, premium aluminum skin with composite backing. Reduces the “waviness” you see on cheap trailers, resists dents, and looks dramatically cleaner. Allstar offers .080 Polycore exterior upgrades on most enclosed trailers, and we recommend it on every premium build.
  • Semi-screwless exterior — fewer visible fasteners, cleaner sidewalls, more high-end appearance.
  • Blackout trim package — black corner caps, fenders, fasteners, and accents.
  • ATP stoneguards — aluminum tread plate stoneguards across the front to take rock strikes off the highway.
  • Aluminum exterior upgrades — fenders, corner caps, and trim.
  • Awnings — manual or electric, in multiple lengths.
  • Exterior ladders — rear or side-mounted for roof access.
  • Colored metal upgrades — two-tone exteriors, custom colors, and accent trim.

If you are choosing one upgrade and only one, .080 Polycore is the one most owners are happiest they bought. The aluminum skin holds up to highway use, washes cleaner, and hides the panel waviness that screams “budget trailer.”

Flooring Options

  • ATP flooring — aluminum tread plate. The toughest flooring we offer, ideal for race trailers and motorcycle haulers.
  • RTP flooring — rubber tread plate. Quieter, kinder to bare feet, and great for race trailers used as hospitality space.
  • Black-and-white vinyl flooring — checkerboard or solid vinyl for finished interiors.
  • Insulated flooring — for trailers used in cold weather and for pet grooming or concession builds.
  • Pressure-treated wood flooring — the standard cargo trailer floor — durable and replaceable.
  • Race trailer flooring — Caliber Protec, polyurea coatings, and other race-grade systems on premium builds.

Observation Deck Packages

An observation deck is a reinforced walk-on roof with railing and a ladder, turning the top of the trailer into a viewing platform. They’re popular on premium race trailers — drag and dirt teams use them for spotting, fans use them for trackside views, and they make a great vantage point at any outdoor event. Available on our 8.5×28 and 8.5×32 race trailers.

Generator Packages

A generator-ready trailer has the wiring, transfer switch, and either a tongue-mounted box or a recessed compartment ready for a generator. We can spec the trailer for the generator you already own, or include a generator on the build. Common setups: race trailers with tongue-mounted Hondas, concession trailers with larger commercial gensets, and pet grooming trailers with onboard 5-7kW units.

Trailer Doors & Ramps

  • Heavy-duty ramp doors — reinforced for cars and side-by-sides.
  • Wide entry ramps — extended ramp width for easier loading.
  • RTP-covered ramps with flap — quieter, more grip, easier on tires.
  • Double spring-assist — makes a heavy ramp door manageable for one person.
  • Side doors and double side doors — including 60×78 escape doors.
  • Bogey wheels — for raising the ramp without scraping concrete.
  • Cast corners and aluminum holdbacks — premium finishing details.

Insulation, A/C & Ventilation

  • Ceiling and wall insulation — keeps the trailer cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
  • Thermacool ceilings — radiant-barrier ceiling material for race trailers parked in the sun.
  • 15K rooftop A/C with wall thermostat — the standard race trailer A/C.
  • Mini-split A/C — quieter, more efficient, and the upgrade on premium builds.
  • Roof vents — manual or 12V powered.
  • Marine battery setups — 12V power for lights and fans when shore power isn’t available.

Cabinets & Interior Packages

  • Base cabinets with mousehole and winch plate
  • Overhead cabinets
  • Closet over toolbox
  • Cabinet lighting and rope lighting with remote
  • Toolboxes — built-in or mounted
  • TV mount between overhead and base cabinets
  • Interior and exterior speaker packages
  • White metal walls and ceiling — finished interior look
  • Optional half-carpet wall or full ATP interior

Trailer Lighting

  • LED flat-panel ceiling lights
  • 12V LED strip lighting
  • Recessed puck lights
  • 12V puck lights in floor
  • Motion lights in stepwell and rear wheel well
  • Courtesy lights
  • LED dual taillights
  • Rear spoiler with 12V loading lights
  • Exterior porch and loading lights

Blackout Packages

A blackout trailer is exactly what it sounds like — black exterior, black trim, black wheels, black hardware. The look is custom-shop and aggressive, and it works as well on a Harley hauler as it does on a race trailer. Our blackout package covers exterior corner caps, fenders, fasteners, wheels, and accent trim. Pair with .080 Polycore in black for the cleanest possible build.

Wheels & Tires

  • Standard steel wheels
  • Aluminum wheels
  • SpiderMag premium wheels
  • Blackout wheel options
  • Spare tire and recessed tire compartment
  • Tire upgrades for highway and heavy-load use

Trailer Height Upgrades

Standard interior height on most enclosed trailers is around 6′ 6″. That’s fine for most cargo, but it gets tight quickly when you start stacking, lifting equipment, or trying to walk around a race car without ducking. Available height upgrades:

  • 6-inch height upgrade — 7′ interior. Fits most race cars and gives plenty of room to stand.
  • 12-inch height upgrade — 7′ 6″ interior. The right call for lifted side-by-sides, motorcycle stand-up storage, and finished interiors with cabinets.
  • Race trailer height packages — packaged with reinforced roof and walk-on or observation deck options.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best axle setup for a race trailer?

For most race trailers, 7,000 lb torsion spread axles are the sweet spot — they handle the weight of a full race build with cabinets, A/C, and tools, ride smoother than leaf springs over long highway hauls, and look the part. Drag teams running lighter cars can sometimes get away with 5,200 lb torsion axles. Triple-axle setups come into play on 32-foot trailers with full interiors and generator packages.

What is a blackout trailer package?

A blackout package replaces the standard chrome and silver trim on the trailer with black exterior corner caps, black fenders, blackout fasteners, black wheels, and black accent trim. It’s a cosmetic package — the trailer is built the same — but the look is dramatically more aggressive and custom-shop. It pairs especially well with .080 Polycore exteriors in black or dark colors.

What is a torsion axle?

A torsion axle uses rubber cords inside the axle tube to absorb suspension travel, instead of the leaf-spring stack underneath the axle on a traditional setup. The result is a smoother, quieter ride with each wheel suspended independently, no leaf springs to wear out, and less road vibration transferred to the cargo. Torsion axles are the upgrade of choice for race trailers, motorcycle haulers, and any trailer that does long-distance highway towing.

What is .080 Polycore?

.080 Polycore is a thicker premium exterior aluminum skin with a composite core. It comes in at .080 inches thick — heavier and more rigid than the standard .024 or .030 aluminum on most cargo trailers — which means it dents less, doesn’t show panel waviness, and washes up cleaner. It’s the most-recommended exterior upgrade for owners who want their trailer to look high-end and stay looking that way.

Can enclosed trailers have generators?

Yes — and it’s one of the most popular race trailer and concession trailer upgrades. We offer tongue-mounted generator boxes (typical on race trailers using a Honda inverter generator) and recessed generator compartments built into the exterior wall (more common on concession trailers and pet grooming trailers running larger commercial generators). Both are vented and pre-wired with a transfer switch.

What is a walk-on roof or observation deck package?

A walk-on roof reinforces the standard trailer roof so it can support the weight of people walking on it. An observation deck takes that one step further by adding railing, a ladder, and a finished platform on top of the trailer. Race teams use observation decks for spotting and watching from the pits — they’re effectively turning the trailer into a viewing platform on race day. Available on our 8.5×28 and 8.5×32 race trailers.

What trailer width is best for landscaping?

Most landscape crews end up on a 7-wide or 8.5-wide enclosed trailer. A 7×14 fits a single zero-turn mower, a couple of trimmers, and a blower with room to walk around. An 8.5×16 or 8.5×20 is better for a two-mower crew with a bagger, blowers, and a small sprayer. Tandem 5,200 lb axles, ramp door with spring assist, and side door with cabinets are the upgrades most landscapers want.

What size trailer is best for a side-by-side?

Most full-size side-by-sides (Polaris RZR, Can-Am Maverick, Honda Talon) fit comfortably in an 8.5×20 with the standard 6’6″ interior height. Lifted machines with bigger tires need a 7′ interior height upgrade. If you’re hauling a side-by-side plus a chase quad or ATV, step up to an 8.5×24. Tie-downs through E-track on the floor are the standard way to secure them.

Do I need a 50-amp electrical package?

If you’re running a 15K A/C, a microwave, a refrigerator, and lighting at the same time — yes. 30 amps will run an A/C and basic accessories but starts to trip when you stack appliances. 50-amp twistlock is standard on most premium race trailers, concession trailers, and pet grooming trailers. If you’re not sure, get the bigger package — adding capacity later costs more than building it in upfront.

What is an escape door?

An escape door is an oversized side door — typically 60″ wide by 78″ tall — positioned so the driver of a parked race car can open the car door and step out without backing the car off the trailer. It’s a feature primarily used on race trailers and motorcycle trailers where a tightly loaded vehicle would otherwise block the standard side door.

Leaf spring vs torsion — which lasts longer?

Leaf springs are easier and cheaper to rebuild — eyebolts and spring packs are off-the-shelf parts you can swap in a couple of hours. Torsion axles last longer in normal use because there are no leaf springs to wear out, but when the rubber inside the axle tube finally fails, the whole axle has to be replaced. For most owners, torsion is the longer-lasting choice; for fleet and rental trailers, leaf-spring rebuildability often wins.

What’s the difference between ATP and RTP flooring?

ATP is aluminum tread plate — diamond-pattern aluminum sheet — and it’s the toughest flooring option for race and motorcycle trailers. It cleans up well and stands up to dragging tools, jacks, and tires. RTP is rubber tread plate — a thick rubber surface with a similar diamond pattern. RTP is quieter underfoot, easier on tires, and a more comfortable surface in trailers used as hospitality or workspace. Many race builds use ATP on the floor and RTP on the ramp.

Can I order a custom-built trailer?

Yes — most of what we sell is built to order. Use our Design a Trailer page to spec the size, axles, exterior, and packages, or call us and we’ll walk through it with you. Build times vary by season, but most custom orders ship within a few weeks of being finalized.

Do you deliver custom-built trailers nationwide?

Yes. We deliver enclosed trailers, race trailers, motorcycle trailers, concession trailers, and RVs to all 48 contiguous states from our home base in Douglas, Georgia. See our delivery page for state-by-state coverage.

Can I finance a custom build?

Yes. We work with multiple lenders and accept credit scores down to 500. Same-day funding is often available, and there are no prepayment penalties. We also offer a rent-to-own program with no credit check — just a valid driver’s license. Apply on the financing page and our team will match you with the best option.
